Sherri Scott - Coach
Sherri is from Coolville, OH and has been involved in twirling since she was four years old. She started twirling by taking a baton class offered by Judy Riggs at Coolville Elementary School. She went on to compete both individually and with the Riggs Rangerettes Baton Corp throughout her elementary and high school years. In high school, Sherri became the first Feature Twirler for The Federal Hocking Marching Lancers, earning numerous 1st place awards and superior ratings at the OMEA State band competition each year. She was also a Feature Twirler for the All Ohio State Fair Band for 3 years. All of these experiences led to her becoming the Feature Twirler for Marshall University where she had the honor of being the last twirler to perform in the old Fairfield Stadium and the first to perform in the new Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

After college, Sherri went on to obtain her NBTA judges license and also became the director of the Rising Stars Baton Corp based out of Parkersburg, WV. The Rising Stars quickly became one of the most prominent teams in the state, winning individual and team State Championship titles every year. When Sherri’s own daughter, Miranda Scott, was nearly 3 years old and showing an interest in twirling herself, Sherri decided to step away from coaching in order to focus on her daughter's activities. Sherri has enjoyed being Miranda’s “at-home coach” over the years while traveling all over the country as Miranda creates her own resume of National and World Championship titles.

In 2018 while Miranda was attending Ohio University, Sherri & Miranda started the Bobcat Twirlers twirling team. They have been able to perform at basketball games and other sporting events, football tailgates, the OU Homecoming Parade and other events on campus. The team also has a clinic open to the public every spring which has become a big success over the years.

Sherri is very excited about being a part of the Phoenix team and believes in the unlimited potential that has been exhibited by its’ members. She is looking forward to working with the current members, welcoming and meeting new ones and working with her daughter Miranda to bring Phoenix to the championship level of twirling Sherri & Miranda have become accustomed to. One of Coach Sherri’s famous sayings that you will hear from her and team members at practices has become an inspiration for the team…… "IT’S GONNA WORK"!
Fun Facts
Sherri's favorite trick is her opening trick from her old solo, a toss turn-walkover-turn with a blind catch. Her favorite memory from when she twirled was when her team won the Grand National Parade Corp Championships at AYOP. Her favorite memory as a parent is when her daughter travelled to Europe to compete in the WFNBTA World Championships and brought home a gold medal not once, but twice! Her favorite part about twirling is getting to travel and make new friends not only from all over the country, but from all over the world. As a coach, she loves helping her students reach their goals and watching their faces light up when they master a new trick.
